The Lavender Leadership Honor Society Inducts College Park Mayor Patrick Wojahn as Honorary Member

College Park, Maryland - The Lavender Leadership Honor Society has chosen to offer College Park Mayor Patrick L. Wojahn honorary membership in the society. Mayor Wojahn will join the ranks of past honorees - transgender activist Mara Keisling and Emmy-nominated actress Laverne Cox in receiving that honor.

"I am deeply honored to be nominated and selected by the students and staff of the Lavender Leadership Honor Society at the University of Maryland," said Mayor Wojahn. "After 10 years of service to the College Park community and nearly 20 years of advocacy for LGBT civil rights, I appreciate the Lavender Leadership Honor Society's goal to create a world and a university community that is fully equitable and to empower agents of social justice."

The induction ceremony will take place from 4pm to 6m on Friday, April 28th in the Memorial Chapel at the University of Maryland, College Park campus, to be concluded with refreshments.

The Lavender Leadership Honor Society is an initiative of the LGBT Equity Center and is advised by a student board. The honor society celebrates and develops leadership for LGBTQ+ social justice. It is open to University of Maryland, College Park undergraduate and graduate students, as well as staff, faculty, and alumni of the university.
