ABOUT PATRICK

— Patrick Wojahn
“After serving 14 years as a City Councilmember and Mayor, I still have work to do in pursuing racial equity, affordable housing, and smart growth, and creating a sustainable city.”
Patrick Wojahn
Mayor of College Park
For the past 25 years, I have been an advocate - for civil rights for all people, for a sustainable environment, and for stronger communities. For the past 14 years, I have advocated for our community as your representative - for 8 years as a City Councilmember and for six years as your Mayor. In that time, I have made our City safer, greener, and an overall better place to live, with new businesses, parks and trails. I have created a stronger community in College Park by increasing transparency in our City government through a community listserve, starting a community foundation to support charitable causes, establishing an annual event, called College Park Day, to show off what our City has to offer, and strengthening our procedures and practices to fix up rental and vacant properties. I have also built a stronger partnership with the University of Maryland to help transform our city into a top-tier college town.
I have the skills and experience to make College Park a better place to live. I have attended leadership courses at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the Prince George's County Citizens Police Academy and the 2014 class of Leadership Greater Washington. I have worked as a lawyer and advocate of civil rights for people with disabilities and other minorities, for safer roads and better transportation options for pedestrians and cyclists, and for better services for low-income residents in our community.
I have served in leadership and as a volunteer for a range of organizations and causes, including Equality Maryland, the College Park Community Food Bank, the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area, Purple Line Now, and different organizations advocating for the rights of people with disabilities. I have lived in College Park for over 17 years with my husband, Dave Kolesar.
I love College Park and I love serving its residents, and I hope that College Park residents will continue to give me the opportunity to serve as your Mayor.
